The Kootenay Boundary Community Services Co-operative “The Koop” was born out of discussions among leaders of community service agencies in 2001 who identified that there was a need to pool resources and create an advocating collective voice for the regional.

The purpose of the Koop is to pursue, deliver, and co-ordinate resources and services provided by and for its members.   At the time of incorporation (2003), the Koop adopted a plan to develop four streams of activity: services to members, co-op projects, service programs, business and service enterprises.

Members find that being part of the “Koop” is immensely beneficial to their organizations overall health, especially in regard to the collaborative and cooperative approach that is taken when addressing challenges and developing strategies for success.
