The Upper Columbia Co-op Councils’ 10th Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 15th, at UBC’s WKTEP Learning Centre at 266 Baker Street in Nelson (the former Nelson Daily News building). Members and guests are encouraged to attend!
This year, in addition to our delicious finger foods and fascinating reports from each of our members, we are pleased to welcome a very special guest speaker, Dr. Sonja Novkovic. Dr. Novkovic is the Chair of the International Co-operative Alliance Research Committee, and is the Academic director in the Co-operative Management Education program and Professor of Economics at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. She has engaged in research and teaching on co-operative and self-managed firms, social economy, and comparative economic systems. Her forthcoming book is entitled Cooperativism and Local Development in Cuba. Here’s a video of Dr. Novkovic speaking about employee empowerment and co-ops.
Members are encouraged to arrive at 5:45 for our business meeting; guests are welcome at 6:45 for sweets and Dr. Novkovic’s and UCCC members’ remarks at beginning at 7 PM.
